A lot of games use some kind of ancient technological or magical artifact as a plot device. It’s usually some kind of machine, space station, or computer, usually made by a mysterious and super-advanced race of people who are almost always dead in main character’s time.
The Citadel in the Mass Effect universe would be one example, though by the start of the first game, everyone already knows about it, so you don’t get that cool moment of discovery. I’m having trouble coming up with a second example at the moment, so here’s a video of a crazy Lego machine.
As tired as that plot device is, I’m a huge sucker for when the player first finds whatever McGuffin the writer’s used and you get to watch it hum to life for the first time. This week’s track is about that. Enjoy!
